Camping La Saugey is within the French Alps area. About 6 hr’s drive with two half hour stops from Troy’s when towing. The site is in a picturesque location overlooking the Lac d’Aiguebelette lake. The site has a private man made beach which you do have to walk down the hill to get there. At the Beach area there is canoe and pedalo hire and a swimming area separated off for all swimming abilities including small children. Life guards are also present during the day. The lake is very clean and well looked after, it is a conservation area for wild life and no petrol motor boats are allowed on the lake.
For refreshments there is a small snack bar and close by is showers and toilets.
On the site there is a play area for children, outside table tennis, volleyball court and bowls area which are all free. The toilet facilities are very good and kept clean. The site does provide wifi at a daily cost. There is also a restaurant area serving drinks and food overlooking the lake, the food at this restaurant is served from 7 o’clock onwards.
The good points to this site are the location, the private beach although it is annoying having to carry everything for the day down to the beach.
The bad points are the pitch areas are not very big and you cannot see the lake or much of the surrounding mountains from your pitch. Sadly the view from our pitch is the surrounding hedge
From the site there is an easy cycle or walking route to the locale information centre. Along the route there are a few restaurants/cafe bars and at the information centre there is a canoeing hire centre. At the top of the mountains you can do paragliding but this is expensive. Within 15 min drive through the mountain there is a shopping area with a super U and Carrefour shopping centre.
